Auburn’s coaching search is entering a new phase now that the regular season is over, and the idea that Lane Kiffin could be the next coach has sailed.

Now the Tigers reportedly will turn to a Plan B or a Plan C, college football insider Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports reports that there has been pushback from the Auburn administration given the Kiffin news that came out late last week. “Plan A was Lane; Plan B was (Hugh) Freeze. Don’t know if Auburn had a Plan C. Bears watching.”

Freeze addressed the situation on Saturday, and offered candid comments.

“I’m not one to tell them something that’s not true,” Freeze said of his players and colleagues at Liberty. “… Is the job everyone is talking about one that I would have an interest in talking with? Sure. That doesn’t mean they have offered me a job.”
