Former Auburn WR Sammie Coates has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced Friday evening.
Coates played for the Houston Texans in 2018, but the team released him with two weeks left in the regular season. He previously played for the Steelers and Browns, too. Pittsburgh originally drafted Coates in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
However, if you’re a receiver, you want to play for a team like the Chiefs, right? With Andy Reid as the head coach and Patrick Mahomes at QB, the Chiefs certainly need receivers.
In four career NFL seasons, Coates has caught just 29 passes for 528 yards and two TDs. In three career years at Auburn, Coates caught 82 passes for 1,757 yards and 13 TDs.
