Cole Cubelic believes Week 1 will be an excellent litmus test for Auburn under new head coach Hugh Freeze.

The analyst and Auburn alum shared his thoughts on the home contest vs. UMass during an episode of the Cube Show.

Cubelic believes that since Auburn should cruise to victory, there’s going to be plenty of time for Freeze to gather notes on the depth chart.

“Auburn should get a comfortable win. I think you’ll see 3 quarterbacks play,” Cubelic said. “That’s something that Hugh Freeze wants. He wants to see where he stands at a lot of positions.”

Cubelic added that the defensive line will be another area of introspection.

“Defensive line, you want to see a heavy rotation,” Cubelic said. “There’s a couple of guys that have been dinged up, been hurt, haven’t really gone through fall camp that they’re going to need to get out there and see what they’re capable of doing.”

Cubelic will also be paying close attention to Auburn’s offensive line.

“The things I’m looking for with Auburn more than anything else: continuity and chemistry,” Cubelic said. “That’s on the offensive line. Those guys playing together, on the same page.”

Auburn-UMass is slated for Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m. EST and will be televised on ESPN .
