Former Auburn WR coach Dameyune Craig surprised many when he decided to leave his Alma mater for a chance to coach for a division rival.

The former Tigers QB left his post on Gus Malzahn’s staff on Sunday to join Les Miles’ LSU staff in the same capacity.

It left many Auburn fans wondering why he felt the need to move on.

According to Gridiron Now, it was because he had concerns about the direction of the offense and his fit as a coach directing it:

Two sources close to the situation said Craig is leaving because of concerns about how the offense was being run and how he fit. Those concerns grew to a point that Craig believed he no longer fit the program and that it was was time for him to leave.

The report goes on to say that his decision was about the “big picture” and not based on a specific disagreement with offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, though the two are reported to have not always been on the same page.

The Tigers are searching for his replacement, and according to reports, could be eyeing another former Auburn player to fill the role.
