Demarcus Riddick met with reporters on Monday afternoon and had plenty to say as the Tigers prepare to face Alabama in the Iron Bowl this weekend.

Riddick, a freshman linebacker who has recently earned a starting role on Auburn’s defense, was not afraid to give the Crimson Tide some bulletin-board material. He promised an Auburn victory this weekend while stating that he’s never lost a rivalry game in his football career.

“Bama is a big rival team,” Riddick said. “Every rival team I’ve played, I never lost to. And I will not lose to Bama while I’m here.”

Riddick was also asked about Alabama star receiver Ryan Williams, who has arguably been the Crimson Tide’s most consistent offensive player this season as a true freshman. Riddick downplayed Williams’s talent and said he’s not a “big-time player.”

“Ryan Williams is Ryan Williams,” he said. “Yeah, he’s electric, he’s all this and that. But in my eyes, he ain’t really nobody to me. Ryan Williams is himself. He ain’t no big time player to me.”

Riddick also commented on Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe. He said Milroe isn’t faster than he is and said he’s determined to keep Milroe from breaking free in the run game this weekend.

“He’s a good quarterback, he’s fast,” Riddick added. “But, I mean, he’s not faster than me … He will not get out of that box this week.”

Here’s video of Riddick’s comments from Monday’s media availability:

Riddick, who made his first career start a couple of weeks ago, has 25 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks so far this season. He earned some high praise from head coach Hugh Freeze ahead of last week’s win over Texas A&M.

Auburn has not won in Tuscaloosa since the 2010 season. The Tigers will be looking to end that drought on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
