Following shooting over rivalry, Alabama fan appears in court before judge who's an Auburn fan
Eight days before the Iron Bowl, an Alabama fan involved in a recent shooting near a motel appeared on Friday in a Mobile, Ala. courtroom where an Auburn fan presided as the judge.
WKRG reported that Rodney Lorenzo Alexander, 28, was arrested Thursday night for the shooting outside the Extenda Suites motel in Mobile on Monday. Alexander’s bond hearing was before Judge Bob Sherling, who reportedly received his bachelor’s and masters degrees from Auburn University.
The shooting resulted in a man being shot in the thigh after an argument about the Tigers and Crimson Tide. An earlier report said the shooting happened at the Mobile motel in the early evening hours on Monday night.
With an Auburn cup in front of Sherling during the hearing, Alexander’s bond was set at $15,000, but he will remain in jail on a probation revocation charge. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday.
Alexander has an Alabama tattoo on his neck, according to police.
