Cody Parkey is set to be out for 3 weeks after he suffered a groin injury, and despite trying to play through it, ultimately couldn’t, and now must sit out to heal.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Parkey, a former Auburn kicker, suffered the injury in the pregame for the New Orleans Saints, and is now going on injured reserve. Parkey just signed with the Saints last week after he was a free agent since he was released by the Cleveland Browns from injured reserve in August. Parkey also dealt with a quad injury earlier this season.

Parkey has made his way around to several NFL teams.

Since he played at Auburn from 2010-13, he’s in his eighth NFL season, and previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans.

Over his first 7 years, the 29-year-old Parkey made 121 of his 143 field-goal attempts. That included going 19-for-22 with Cleveland last season.

He was 3-for-5 kicking extra points with the Saints on Sunday in the win over Washington. He also had 3 kickoffs.
