Former Auburn player Shon Coleman had surgery this morning to repair a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle. He’s likely heading for IR, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
The San Francisco 49ers lineman was carted off the field during Saturday’s preseason game with the Dallas Cowboys following the injury to his right ankle, Pro Football Talk reported. Coleman was injured when teammate and guard Najee Toran fell into Coleman’s leg on a running play. The 49ers’ medical staff placed an air cast on Coleman’s right foot before he was carted off.
The 49ers traded for Coleman last summer, and while he didn’t appear in a game in 2018, he was expected to back up both tackle positions this season.
The 6-foot-5, 310 pound Coleman was selected in the third round by the Cleveland Browns in the 2016 NFL Draft.
