A former Auburn receiver has found a new home in Conference USA.

Jashawn Sheffield, who was suspended indefinitely by Auburn, and entered the NCAA transfer portal about two months ago, has landed at Middle Tennessee State. Sheffield was a 2019 Under Armour All-American who was arrested twice — misdemeanor charges for disorderly conduct and suspicion of DUI – in his home state of Georgia.

The Brunswick native is enrolled on campus and on the MTSU roster. Sheffield played one game as a freshman in 2019 against Samford where he had two carries for 30 yards. A 4-star recruit, Sheffield committed out of high school to the Tigers over Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. He was ranked as the nation’s No. 150 overall prospect, the No. 10 overall athlete and the state’s No. 15 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Auburn, meanwhile, has plenty of talent and experience at receiver, including Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz, Eli Stove and several incoming freshmen signed in the offseason.
