Auburn coaches and fans were thrilled when the Tigers landed Baylor transfer QB Jarrett Stidham this offseason.

The former 5-star recruit is expected to win the starting quarterback job this fall and inject some life into the Auburn passing game.

Even his coaches from Baylor think the Tigers are getting a star with Stidham, as they’ve seen firsthand how talented the ex-Bear is.

Former Baylor safeties coach Cris Dishman told AL.com that he thinks Stidham can be a “taller Drew Brees” and said Baylor defensive coaches were impressed on a daily basis by what the new Auburn quarterback did in practice:

“We used to sit in our defensive meeting room at Baylor and be like ‘OK, we’ve got one right here. We’ve got something special at quarterback,'” Dishman said. “You knew he was going to a special-type player, so him being successful at Auburn doesn’t surprise me at all.”

Obviously, getting to the level to where the Brees comparison isn’t just hype will take a lot of work. But, thankfully for the Tigers, it seems Stidham is willing to put in the time to make himself a star.

With several key offensive players returning to the mix in 2017, Auburn could take a step toward becoming a championship contender with Stidham in the mix this fall.
