One of the biggest moments of National Signing Day on Wednesday was when 5-star 2019 WR George Pickens made his decision.

Pickens, an Alabama native, had been committed to the Auburn Tigers for about two years before deciding on Wednesday to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs instead.

At his press conference, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn commented on Pickens’ decision, adding that the Tigers have some talented receivers already on the roster (via AL.com):

“You know, usually I don’t comment on guys that go to other places, but he was committed to us for two years and decided to go somewhere else,” Malzahn said. “But the good thing is that we have some very young, talented receivers, so we’ll be fine at that position.

“I think the good thing for us is we’ve got a lot of big-time receivers that are young, so that’s not going to bother us.”

The Bulldogs are set at quarterback for the 2019 season (and possibly 2020 as well), while the Tigers enter the spring without a set starter. Did that play a part in Pickens’ decision? We may never know, but this was a big flip for Georgia.
