Auburn defensive lineman Elijah Daniel left head coach Gus Malzahn no other choice.

Days after being arrested on theft and burglary charges, Daniel was dismissed from the Tigers football team on Saturday.

Daniel recorded 15 tackles and one sack during the 2014 season and was expected to be a key cog in Auburn’s new-look defensive line under Will Muschamp. He was listed as a four-star recruit and the No. 51 player in the country out of high school, according to 247Sports.

Daniel was indefinitely suspended after the arrest until Malzahn learned more about the situation earlier this week.
