Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham has been sitting out this spring while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

However, the Tigers aren’t worried about his ability to be ready for the start of the 2018 season this fall, according to coach Gus Malzahn.

Malzahn appeared on ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM on Tuesday night, and as you can hear in the clip below, he doesn’t think there’s any cause for concern regarding Stidham:

“He’s done some 7-on-7 and some 1-on-1, but his shoulder is going to be fine,” he said. “I think he’s in a good spot moving forward.”

In fact, he added, it’s been great to give some of the younger quarterbacks a chance to get more first-team reps this spring:

“Those young guys, giving them a chance to really develop, has been good, too,” he said. “Malik Willis is really coming around, and he should. He was here last spring and he got a chance to play. Joey Gatewood is a guy who just got here. He’s a really talented young man.”

Auburn’s spring game is scheduled for this Saturday, and it appears Willis and Gatewood will continue to handle the position while Stidham watches on from the sidelines.
