What Gus Malzahn said after Auburn's loss to Clemson
Highlights from Gus Malzahn’s post-game presser following the 19-13 loss to Clemson at home:
Auburn’s defense did a very good job in slowing Heisman Trophy hopeful Deshaun Watson — holding him to 248 yards passing and only 21 yards rushing on 11 carries. Malzahn was very pleased by the defensive effort:
“Very proud of our defense, that’s one of the best offenses in college football. Holding those guys to 19 points I thought was really unbelievable — as far as the effort and everything.”
Auburn's Gus Malzahn on Clemson: 'There's not a whole lot of people holding that offense to 19 points.'

"Hats off to the defense. Coach Steele had a great plan. Our guys fought their guts out." – Gus Malzahn.

Malzahn played all three quarterbacks on Saturday evening. It appeared as if this was the plan entering the contest. At some point, one has to wonder whether he’ll eventually narrow it down to one option.
Gus Malzahn getting testy about QB questions. "That's about the 10th time y'all have asked me that. Anyone else want to ask that?"

Malzahn: "We went into this game knowing we'd play all three (QBs)."

Gus Malzahn on his quarterbacks: 'We played all three. We may continue to do that… at times, all three had success.'

Auburn's Gus Malzahn on his QB rotation: 'Certain quarterbacks are better at certain plays. Our guys knew what to expect.'

Offensively, Malzahn admits there’s plenty to work on.
“Offensively, it was a big struggle. Second half starting moving the football, the biggest issue was the two times in the red zone that we didn’t score — the one time on the 4th and short and then the one that 4th and 10 that could have helped. Bottom line is I’m proud of this time and I’m encouraged.”
Auburn's Gus Malzahn on his run game: 'That was probably the biggest disappointment for me.'
