Auburn quarterback Sean White has been participating in spring practices, but has yet to see live action. However, Auburn head coach went out of his way to praise his junior quarterback in his Saturday press conference.

“Sean’s done a really good job, too,” Malzahn said. “I know he only does 7-on-7 (drills) but you can tell Sean is a veteran guy.”

Despite the positive comments, don’t expect to see the backup in the Tigers’ scrimmage on Saturday.

Ahead of Auburn’s A-Day scrimmage on April 8, Malzahn said White would not be making an appearance as he continues his recovery from a broken arm suffered during the Tigers’ Sugar Bowl loss to Oklahoma. Hear’s what Malzahn had to say when asked if there was anyway White would play in the upcoming spring game.

“No. He’s doing 7-on-7 (drills) but we just aren’t going to take a chance that anyone runs into his arm,” Malzahn said. “Things are going great and just don’t want to, him falling down. So he won’t participate.”

Heading into his junior season, White has an uphill battle to keep his starting job after Auburn landed Baylor transfer QB Jarrett Stidham this offseason.

However, since he has a plate in his right arm currently, appearing in next weekend’s scrimmage probably isn’t the best idea for White.

Malzahn will probably continue to play it safe with the junior quarterback until summer practices start.
