Hugh Freeze explains usage of cornerback JD Rhym, status into Week 11: 'It's week-to-week'
Hugh Freeze was asked Wednesday afternoon at the SEC’s weekly teleconference about the status of former 4-star cornerback JD Rhym.
Rhym has appeared in just a few games this season for the Tigers and Freeze noted why on Wednesday. He told reporters that he and Rhym are working through ‘personal issues’ and calls his status week-to-week.
Here’s Freeze’s full comments.
“JD and I are working through some personal issues. It’s week to week. I think he’s got potential to be a really good contributor for our team. We have to just got to make sure the standard that we want for all of our players is being upheld. But we’re kind of at a point now where you’re wondering if it’s better to redshirt him, or not, and that’s kind of what we’re dealing with now. Can we get through another game. I think he’s played in 3 games, so we’re trying to manage that now. There’s really no more issues at this point, it’s just what is best for him and our team long term.”
Rhym has totaled 6 tackles with 1 interception this season against Samford at the start of the year.
