High Freeze held his introductory press conference after being officially named Auburn’s next head coach Monday afternoon. He addressed a myriad of topics, including the current social buzz around the Auburn football program.

That buzz is two-fold. Obviously, the Tigers program is at a low point and has gone through its share of drama with former head coach Bryan Harsin, but there is also the semi-controversial hiring of Freeze to add on.

But Freeze, according to Auburn AD John Cohen, has “showed remorse” for his “past transgressions” of personal misconduct at Ole Miss. The new Auburn head coach said Tuesday that the outside noise around the program does not matter.

There’s a long road ahead for Auburn football. On paper, Freeze has been a winner everywhere he has gone. He beat Nick Saban at Alabama multiple times, the only active SEC head coach that can say that.

Translating that to the field is a different story. Let’s see if Freeze is up to the challenge.
