Jarrett Stidham throws first NFL TD pass; follows quickly with a pick-6

With Cam Newton out after testing positive for coronavirus, the New England Patriots turned to backup QB Brian Hoyer against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.

However, after Hoyer was ineffective, the Patriots made the switch to former Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham.

He paid off immediately for the Pats, tossing his first career touchdown on this play:

 

But, he followed that up with a pick-6, thrown to former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu. You can see the play below:

The Patriots lost to the Chiefs 26-10, and Stidham finished a less-than-inspiring 5-for-13 for 60 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.

The Patriots probably need Newton back ASAP if they want to compete for a playoff spot.
