Jaylin Williams achieved a rare feat for a college basketball player.

The Auburn Tigers’ star forward eclipsed 1,000 career points after a 20-point showing against the Alabama State Hornets on Friday.

After the game, Williams spoke about reaching the milestone and looking forward to SEC play.

“It means a lot,” Williams explained. “I’ve been keeping up with it. It was great to do it here, in Neville Arena, in front of the fans, family, and friends.”

Williams had a big game against the Hornets, finishing with 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Jokingly, Williams was asked why it took him so long to reach thek milestone.

“I don’t know. Being unselfish, I guess,” the forward explained.

Williams has played 118 games for the Tigers over 4 seasons. The forward has averaged 8.5 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.

The Tigers currently have a 9-2 record and a 5-0 record in conference play. Williams has been a key part of the team, averaging 10.9 points and 5.1 rebounds during the 2023-24 season. The forward was asked about whether or not the team is ready for SEC play.

“I see us not underestimating our teammates,” Williams explained. “Every game we play, we know these guys are going to play hard the whole game. We just prepare for one game at a time.”
