Johni Broome is returning to Auburn for the 2023-24 season.

Broome made that announcement on Monday evening. He had previously declared for the 2023 NBA Draft, but maintained his collegiate eligibility throughout that process.

Broome coming back is a major win for Auburn. Last season, he averaged 14.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.

Head coach Bruce Pearl was quick to acknowledge Broome’s decision on Monday night. Pearl noted that Broome could have chosen to stay in the NBA Draft and likely would have been drafted.

Here’s Pearl’s full thoughts:

Broome is sticking with a talented Auburn team will be hoping to make a deep run in next year’s NCAA Tournament. The Tigers return multiple starters and have also added a pair of key newcomers so far this offseason.

Auburn’s lone transfer to this point is forward Denver Jones, who had a wide array of interest from around the country. The Tigers also signed 5-star point guard Aden Holloway in the class of 2023. Holloway is the 2nd highest-ranked recruit in program history behind only Jabari Smith Jr.

Broome has 2 years of eligibility remaining.
