Johni Broome is heading to The Plains. The standout transfer from Morehead State chose Auburn over Florida, a battle between Bruce Pearl and his former Tiger staffer, Todd Golden.
A 6-10 power forward, Broome averaged 16.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Broome matched that average output by posting a double-double 23 times in the 2021-22 season, a top-5 mark nationally. Broome played in all 34 games, averaging 28.3 minutes per outing, blocking 131 shots, a school record. As the Ohio Valley Conference’s leader in rebounds and blocked shots, Broome won Defensive Player of the Year.
Auburn’s newest C Johni Broome: “Auburn, great place to be. On my visit it felt like home. Great fanbase, great environment to play in, we played there last year.”
