After starting Auburn’s spring game with the first team offense in the absence of Kamryn Pettway, RB Kerryon Johnson went down in the first quarter and is doubtful to return. According to the SEC Network, Johnson suffered a high ankle sprain.

The injury doesn’t appear to be too serious, as Johnson walked off under his own power. This looks to be a precautionary move for the Tigers, who battled injuries to the backfield for most of the 2016 season.

While in the game, Johnson was effective, recording seven carries for 47 yards and scoring the game’s first touchdown. He also showed off his hands, reeling in a 17-yard reception from Jarrett Stidham on the last play of the first quarter. On that play, he would be tackled by linebacker Richard McBryde, the hit that likely resulted in the injury, as he would not return.
