Kevin Steele addresses Auburn's penalties on LSU's late game-winning drive
As the LSU Tigers were driving down the field to eventually kick the game-winning field goal on Saturday afternoon against Auburn, the other Tigers helped them out with two pass-interference penalties.
Those extra yards led to the game-winning 42-yard kick from LSU K Cole Tracy, giving coach Ed Orgeron’s crew another big win.
On Sunday, Auburn DC Kevin Steele addressed the costly penalties, saying the Tigers need to continue working on that area of their defense:
Auburn DC Kevin Steele on penalties: "We worked really hard after the Washington game to make sure that we got better, to make sure there was no question about the interference, but obviously we have not made enough progress yet."

Steele on the penalties on LSU's game-winning drive: "The last drive, they earned half of what they got, and we gave them the other 30 yards. That's on me."

Pass-interference penalties are often controversial, but Auburn can’t put itself in bad situations like it did on Saturday afternoon.
For the second year in a row, the Tigers have missed a golden opportunity against LSU, and now they’ll have to regroup quickly, as games against Georgia, Mississippi State and Alabama still loom large on the schedule.
