Kick Six are 2 words that Auburn fans will remember for a long time.

Verne Lundquist was on the call during that iconic Iron Bowl play and talked about it as this November marked the 10th anniversary.

Alabama was driving late in the game as T.J. Yeldon ran out of bounds with what appeared to be no time left on the clock. The play was reviewed, and the Crimson Tide were granted 1 second.

“We come down to the last possession for Alabama. T.J. Yeldon on a running play scoots across the 50 and goes out of bounds either with no time on the clock or as Nick Saban argued, 1 second,” said Lundquist. “We showed the endzone-sideline cameras, and it was pretty conclusive.”

After a disappointing performance from his veteran kicker, Nick Saban decided to trot out a redshirt freshman to attempt a 57-yard game-winning field goal.

The field goal was missed and returned by Chris Davis and the rest was history.

“Then I thought just as I looked this way, ‘Dear God, don’t let there be any flags.’ And there weren’t, fortunately for my career,” said Lundquist. “Then, Gary and I just shut up. For 1 minute and 21 seconds we didn’t say a word. All I said then was, ‘You might wanna see that again.'”

That Iron Bowl serves a reminder that anything can happen in rivalries. Kickoff for this year’s edition will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
