Lee Hunter, a freshman defensive lineman at Auburn, has announced his transfer destination as he looks to reunite with a familiar face.

Hunter shared on social media that he would play at Central Florida and coach Gus Malzahn.

Hunter, who is a 6-foot-5 and 300-pounder from Mobile, Alabama, did not record any stats during the 2021 season for Auburn. He was rated the No. 21 defensive line in the class of 2021. The defensive tackle was Auburn’s second-highest prospect to enroll last year and was rated as the No. 81 overall player nationally in the 2021 signing class according to 247Sports.

Hunter has already enrolled at UCF and will participate in spring football, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Orlando Sentinel.

Hunter had long been committed to the Tigers, verbally pledging to Malzahn in December 2019 before signing over a year later. Prior to the Early Signing Period in 2020, Malzahn was fired, but Hunter still signed early with the program prior to the hiring of Bryan Harsin as head coach.

Hunter is the second former Auburn player to transfer to UCF joining wide receiver Kobe Hudson, who led the Tigers in a number of receiving categories last season including yards and catches.
