Cam Newton is known for his creative pregame cleats. But these were certainly different than many others worn by the Carolina Panthers quarterback.

Prior to Sunday’s game against the Giants, the former Auburn quarterback donned some unique footwear. Newton’s cleats had a tiger — perhaps a nod to his alma mater? — on the toes. The interesting part is that the cleats also had fur at the top.

Take a look at the photo below, courtesy of Bill Voth, a reporter for Panthers.com:

Newton may not have worn the cleats during the game, but that didn’t stop him from getting off to a strong start. The Panthers led the Giants, 27-16, four minutes into the fourth quarter, and Newton had thrown two touchdowns at that point.

Just when it seems that Newton’s pregame cleats can’t get any crazier, he always finds a way to wear something more unique. It’ll certainly be something to watch for as the season continues.
