Two former Auburn football players are looking for new opportunities as they won’t be suiting up on the Miami Dolphins’ active roster to start the 2020 season. Miami announced that defensive back Jeremiah Dinson has been waived and wide receiver Ricardo Louis was released.
Dinson originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Detroit Lions on May 1, 2020. He was awarded off waivers to the Dolphins on Aug. 15.
Dinson was a three-year starter (2017-19) at Auburn, where he played in 48 career games, totaling 214 tackles (129 solo) and 4 interceptions. As a senior in 2019, he served as a team captain and totaled 88 tackles (57 solo) and 2 interceptions.
Louis signed a one-year, $660,000 contract with the Dolphins in February. He was then released in July but re-signed with the Dolphins on Aug. 8. Louis has missed the last 2 seasons. In 2018, he suffered a neck injury in July, missing Cleveland’s regular-season. He signed with Miami in April 2019, but was placed on season-ending injured reserve in May.
Louis was selected No. 114 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Browns. He played all 32 games with 12 starts in the first two years of his NFL career (2016-17) in Cleveland. He has recorded 45 receptions for 562 yards (12.5 avg.).
