The New York Jets signed second-year cornerback Nick Marshall Wednesday morning.

Marshall, a former Auburn quarterback, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars last offseason. As a rookie, he played in 13 games (with one start) and produced 13 tackles and a pass breakup, but was cut this past September. He was then signed to the team’s practice squad and remained there until reaching a deal with the Jets.

At 6-foot-1 and 206 pounds, Marshall seems to be a good fit to learn under defensive-minded head coach Todd Bowles while working alongside one of the best corners in the game with Darrelle Revis.

From 2013-14, Marshall totaled 6,425 yards of offense with 57 touchdowns for Auburn, leading the Tigers to an appearance in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.
