Owen Pappoe, one of Auburn’s most reliable stars in recent years, has announced plans for next season.

The Auburn linebacker and team captain shared on social media on Tuesday that he will enter the 2023 NFL Draft. After Auburn defenders Colby Wooden and Derick Hall also announced their entry into the draft earlier on Tuesday, it’s another sign that the Auburn defense will have a new look in 2023.

Pappoe had a team-high 93 tackles this past season, and was voted team captain for the second consecutive season, as he’s only the fourth Auburn player to reach that milestone.

He had 10 tackles, including 8 solos, in his final game against Alabama in the Iron Bowl loss.

Pappoe elected to return to Auburn last season after injuries caused him to miss 8 games. He turned in a strong season this year to boost his draft stock.

The former 5-star recruit made 256 career tackles, 15 tackles for loss, with 2 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles.
