Opelika High School coach Brian Blackmon, who coached South Carolina QB Jake Bentley during his 21 years with the Alabama prep program (eight as the head coach), will be making a move to the SEC for the 2017 season.

However, he won’t be teaming up with his former signal caller with the Gamecocks. Instead, he’ll be heading to the SEC West to join the Auburn program.

According to 247Sports, Blackmon will be an offensive analyst on coach Gus Malzahn’s staff starting this season.

The Opelika district thanked Blackmon for his service to the football program in a release issued on Wednesday:

“We are very proud of the tradition of excellent head coaches at Opelika High School,” Opelika City School Superintendent Dr. Mark Neighbors said in a release. “Over the past 21 years, Coach Blackmon has been a major factor in the success of our football program. His focus on building character among his players has been a priority and has had an extremely positive impact on our program. We wish Coach Blackmon the best in his new position.”

Blackmon has a history with Auburn, as he earned his Master’s degree from the school.
