Currently, Auburn’s 2020 non-conference opponents are Alabama A&M, UMass and Southern Miss, but the Tigers could soon be adding a Power 5 conference opponent to that slate.

According to Brandon Marcello of 247Sports, Auburn is in talks to play North Carolina in a 2020 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game matchup.

However, that news comes with one catch. There is already a Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game scheduled for Week 1, so a potential Auburn-North Carolina matchup might get pushed back to Week 2.

Nothing is finalized yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Tigers in Atlanta in 2020, as they’ll play Washington in the 2018 Kickoff Game.

In 2019, they’ll head to Texas to take on Oregon in Week 1, and now they may soon have North Carolina on the 2020 schedule.

Those are big games that will help build Auburn’s resume, so it’s good to see the Tigers trying to set meetings like this up.
