Every year during training camp and preseason, injuries happen. That’s just a part of football.
However, you always hope the injuries aren’t that serious and players can return to action. That’s what the New York Jets are hoping on Thursday.
Per a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, pass rusher Carl Lawson, a former Auburn star, went down with a lower leg injury and it’s feared he may have torn his Achilles:
#Jets pass-rusher Carl Lawson, one of their big free agent signings, suffered a lower leg at practice today and he’s having an MRI on his Achilles, per me and @MikeGarafolo. If it is torn, Lawson would be out for the season.

As Rapoport notes, a torn Achilles would spell an end to the 2021 season for the former Auburn standout.
His teammates, including Corey Davis below, are hoping for the best:

Lawson signed a contract with the Jets this offseason, reportedly for 3 years and $45 million. He spent the first 4 years of his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals after the team took him in Round 4 of the 2017 NFL Draft.
