Well, this certainly is a strange turn of events.

After declaring for the upcoming NBA Draft but not hiring an agent, Auburn sophomore Mustapha Heron plans to reportedly return to school but leave Bruce Pearl’s program via transfer according to Adam Zagoria of the New York Times. Depending on where he winds up, the former five-star high school recruit may have to sit out a season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Heron averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.9 assists per game for the Tigers last season and was an All-SEC Second Team selection for the SEC regular season champions.

This news comes after news of Auburn center Austin Wiley intentions to return to school. Wiley missed all of last season falling the NCAA/FBI investigation into Pearl’s basketball program.
