Hugh Freeze is the new head football coach at Auburn, and one player who might be most excited about that development is Robby Ashford.

The freshman quarterback was thrust into action this season and showed signs of both inconsistency and brilliance.

Freeze, of course, has been known throughout his career for QB development, and Ashford said this week that he can’t wait to start working with his new coach.

“I’ve been praying for this” Ashford said. “If I get Coach Freeze, it’s going to be deadly. Just because I’ve seen what he’s done in the past. He’s a winner. He’s a proven winner.”

Ashford cited Freeze’s development of Malik Willis at Liberty and added that he actually spoke to Willis this week.

Ashford also had a message for the Auburn fan base.

“I feel like me and Coach Freeze are going to be a great dynamic duo,” Ashford said. “I’m excited. We got national championships, SEC titles, whatever you can think of. We’re going to bring it to Auburn. And we’re going to do it with Coach Freeze. So, it’s just time to get to work.”
