It didn’t take Auburn coach Gus Malzahn long to recover from former WR coach Dameyune Craig’s departure on Sunday.

By Monday morning, a report surfaced from Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans signifying that former Auburn WR Kodi Burns would be taking Craig’s place on the Tigers staff.

Burns was recently hired by Arizona State to coach running backs, but served last season as the WR coach for Middle Tennessee.

Malzahn’s reported choice to bring Burns back to The Plains makes sense, given his history with Burns.

Burns won a national championship with the Tigers as a player in the 2010 season under Malzahn, who was the Tigers offensive coordinator under Gene Chizik.

He was later hired as a graduate assistant when Malzahn took the Auburn head coaching job in 2013.
