Tim Tebow’s “Freak of the Week” is one of the fun segments every Saturday on “SEC Nation.” For a special Wednesday edition of the SEC Network’s pregame show ahead of the New Year’s Day bowl games, Tebow revealed that his “Freak of the Year,” is Auburn defensive lineman Derrick Brown.
“Freakishness” is often associated with incredible strength and agility, but instead of rattling off impressive weight room numbers, Tebow wanted to focus on Brown’s on-field stats in a remote appearance during Wednesday’s show.
“Derrick Brown is an absolute monster,” Tebow said. “Let me read a few of these statistics: leads the SEC in strip sacks, second in forced fumbles in the SEC, their defense is averaging 2.8 yards per rush when he’s on the field; when he’s off the field, they’re averaging 4.8 yards. Are you kidding me? This dude’s an absolute game-changer.”
Auburn hopes for Brown to be a game-changer on Wednesday against Minnesota in the Outback Bowl. Tigers fans were excited when Brown announced he will be playing in the bowl game instead of skipping it to avoid injury risk ahead of the Scouting Combine and NFL Draft.
