Walker Kessler’s former team, North Carolina, is having a big weekend. The Tar Heels just beat rival Duke in the Final Four and will face Kansas in the title game on Monday night.

But, the weekend was also a big one for Kessler, who took home the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award during a ceremony on Sunday.

As for his looming NBA Draft decision, Kessler said he’s not in a hurry to make that choice just yet:

“I’m still kind of feeling it out and feeling decisions, but I’m excited for the opportunity,” Kessler said.

Kessler blocked 155 shots to lead Division I players in 2021-22. His defense was a big reason why Auburn claimed the 2021-22 SEC regular-season title. He’s being mentioned by some analysts as a potential late-first-round pick.
