Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham didn’t make any excuses after the Tigers’ loss to Tennessee in a game where he was responsible for three turnovers.

“It’s really disappointing, obviously,” he said. “We had very, very high expectations coming out this year. We lost three games to this point and quite honestly, I think we should have won all of them. We just keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Today, I turned the ball over three times, and that’s completely on me. Regardless of any circumstance, I’ve got to do a better job. I’ve got to hold on to the ball.”

Stidham admitted that it’s not fun with three losses by the end of Week 7 in a season, but his message to his teammates remains the same.

“Our guys, they’re hungry to get better every week,” Stidham said. “Collectively as a team, we’re going to sick together and block out all the outside noise. We’re just going to continue to grind for each other, just like we have all along, and that’s what it’s all about.”

Auburn hasn’t had a game yet this season like it did last season against Missouri, the quarterback said, when the offense was in rhythm and clicking.

“I know the way I was brought up, the way I was raised, you continue to fight and go to work every day and continue to get better,” he said.

Stidham was asked about his own future in the light of having better numbers and a better season last year, and how he considered the NFL.

Asked how he would looked to improve after the rough start, he had a simple response: Go back to work.
