Dave Aranda is a low-key coach, and that demeanor works for the Baylor program, but it showed in a big-time way following the game-winning play on Saturday to clinch the Big 12 championship.

Aranda watched stoically from the sideline as the Bears kept Oklahoma State out of the end zone on fourth down on a diving play near the pylon. As the play unfolded and then ended, Aranda watched with his arms folded as players and assistants celebrated around him and rushed the field.

In the tunnel after the game, Baylor players continued to hug Aranda, and leaped on him going to the locker room.

“I know you don’t like attention,” they said.
