Bettor places insanely large bet on Clemson; would net less than $10 if Tigers win
The Clemson Tigers are the No. 1 team in the country and take on an ailing Syracuse squad on Saturday.
The spread has Clemson favored by a whopping 46 points over the Orange, which has to be one of the largest spreads for a conference game in modern history.
Most sportsbooks aren’t offering moneyline bets on the Tigers, but FanDuel is, and has Clemson at -100,000 odds. And, per ESPN, a bettor has decided to make a wager on Clemson:
According to FanDuel, a bettor placed an $8,600 money-line bet on Clemson at -100,000 odds. If the Tigers prevail, the bettor will add $8.60 to his bankroll.
The largest bet on Syracuse was $50 at 40-1. As of Friday afternoon, there had been three times as many money-line bets on the Orange as there were on Clemson, but the Tigers had attracted 92% of the money, thanks primarily to the $8,600 wager.
If Syracuse jumps out to a 7-0 lead on Saturday, it’s probably safe to say no one will be sweating it out more than that bettor.
Will the Orange pull off one of the biggest upsets in college football history? Or, will this bettor happily cash his $8.60 ticket?
