Cade Klubnik reacts to former teammate DJ Uiagalelei being sidelined by injury
Cade Klubnik knows Saturday night could’ve easily been the “DJ Uiagalelei Bowl” in Tallahassee.
Uiagalelei spent 3 seasons at Clemson before transferring to Oregon State in 2023. Then he transferred again on New Year’s Day 2024, announcing that he was headed to Florida State for his final season of eligibility.
So, Saturday night’s Week 6 ACC matchup between the Tigers and Seminoles could’ve pitted Uiagalelei against his 1st school and Klubnik, who was his backup during the 2022 season when Klubnik was a freshman. But Uiagalelei has a hand injury and will likely miss the next few weeks, so the whole reunion is ruined. FSU will start redshirt freshman Brock Glenn instead.
Klubnik gave his take on the unfortunate situation with the guy who used to show him the way at Clemson. Yes, he won’t get to face off against Uiagalelei, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be in the same stadium come Saturday night.
“Sad to see him injured … but excited to see him. He was a great mentor to me when he was here,” said Klubnik.

Klubnik will lead the 15th-ranked Tigers into Tallahassee against the struggling Seminoles, who are 1-4 after starting the season ranked in the AP Top 25. It’s been a forgettable season for FSU and Uiagalelei, who will be forced to stand and watch the Seminoles take on his former school.
This may be the most convenient injury in history. It saves Norvell from having to bench the player that they paid big money to transfer to FSU, just to lay a dog tu rd.
