Clemson has an early 7-0 lead over South Carolina thanks to a big touchdown run by Cade Klubnik.

After the Tigers came up empty on their first 2 drives, Klubnik finally found the end zone with 12:07 remaining in the second quarter. Here’s a replay of Klubnik’s run:

Despite not scoring in the first quarter, Clemson has moved the ball extremely well to this point in the game. The Tigers averaged 9.2 yards per play over the course of their first 3 drives vs. the Gamecocks.

The big plays have mostly come through the air. Klubnik completed 7 of his first 8 passes for 133 yards on Saturday. He completed passes of 28, 36 and 40 yards in the first half against South Carolina.

The downfield passing game has been there at times for Clemson this season, though it hasn’t always been a consistent part of its offense against elite competition. Entering Week 14, the Tigers only had 6 passing plays of 20+ yards all season against FBS teams with winning records.

This is a game with significant College Football Playoff implications, as the winner may be in position to earn an at-large bid into the 12-team field depending on what else happens this weekend across the country.
