Deshaun Watson was named in a lawsuit in Houston on Monday that alleges sexual assault and battery as well as intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to multiple reports.

The suit stems from a date Watson had with the plaintiff, who filed under the Jane Doe pseudonym, in October 2020. It claims Watson exposed himself, requested a massage, and sexually assaulted the victim.

A league spokesperson declined to comment when reached by NFL.com on Monday.

The suit alleges that Watson violated sections of the Texas state penal code for indecent exposure and assault and seeks more than $1 million in damages. While the statute of limitations for most personal injury cases is 2 years, a 5-year window applies in the state of Texas where cases explicitly allege sexual assault.

According to Pro Football Talk, the plaintiff in the suit is being represented by Tony Buzbee, the same attorney who represented multiple women who sued Watson in 2021.

An account of the allegations can be found here.

(TW: An alleged sexual assault is described in detail in the linked article above.)

In August 2022, the NFL suspended Watson for 11 games and fined him $5 million for violating the league’s personal conduct policy after 24 different women accused Watson of sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions.

Watson agreed to settlements with 23 of the 24 women in 2022. He denied any wrongdoing, and 2 grand juries in Texas declined to indict him on criminal complaints in 2022.

The Cleveland Browns acquired Watson from the Houston Texans in March 2022. The organization traded 3 first-round draft picks in addition to other draft capital for him. The Browns said their research and investigation into Watson was “extensive,” and decided to give him a new 5-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract. At the time, the guaranteed money in the deal marked the most guaranteed money on a single contract in NFL history.

Watson is in Year 3 with the Browns, but has thus far appeared in only 13 games for the organization. He threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 6 times in a 33-17 Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
