With Nick Saban recovering from surgery, Alabama sends another assistant to NFL Draft

Alabama head coach Nick Saban is usually a fixture at the NFL Draft; however, this year, Saban is at home recovering from surgery.

Not to worry, though, because Saban was already back working at Alabama two days after his hip replacement surgery. Nonetheless, Saban was unable to make it to Nashville for this year’s NFL Draft.

In his place, Alabama sent Assistant Athletics Director of Football Burton Burns to Nashville. Although Burns is serving in an off-the-field role, he’s been at Alabama since Nick Saban started in 2007. He coached the running backs from 2007-17.
