MLB.com’s latest 2022 MLB Mock Draft features 8 SEC standouts in Round 1

The 2022 MLB Draft is coming up in less than 2 weeks and will be held in Los Angeles.

When the first round commences, several SEC standouts are expected to hear their names called.

This week, MLB.com’s Jim Callis updated his Round 1 mock draft, and as you can see below, he has 8 SEC stars going in the first round:

  • No. 6 — Jacob Berry, 3B/OF, LSU — Miami Marlins
  • No. 20 — Connor Prielipp, LHP, Alabama — Atlanta Braves
  • No. 25 — Jordan Beck, OF, Tennessee — New York Yankees
  • No. 27 — Sterlin Thompson, OF, Florida — Milwaukee Brewers
  • No. 28 — Drew Gilbert, OF, Tennessee — Houston Astros
  • No. 31 — Spencer Jones, OF, Vanderbilt — Colorado Rockies
  • No. 34 — Cayden Wallace, 3B, Arkansas — Arizona Diamondbacks
  • No. 35 — Blade Tidwell, RHP, Tennessee — Kansas City Royals

Kumar Rocker, the former Vanderbilt star pitcher who wasn’t signed by the Mets last year, is projected to go No. 17 overall to the Philadelphia Phillies.
