NCAA reportedly approves adding full-time coaching positions to baseball, softball

The NCAA reportedly made a long-awaited move that baseball and softball programs and coaches have wanted for years.
Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball reported that the NCAA’s Division I Council has approved a measure to turn all volunteer positions in baseball and softball (and in all sports) into a full-time coaching position without recruiting constraints. Volunteers will officially become full-time coaches on July 1, 2023.
This move means baseball and softball will now match basketball with 3 full-time assistants.
That triggered those around college baseball, which has 11.7 scholarships, to expand those as well.
Here’s a sample of the reaction:
The removal of the “volunteer” label for the third baseball assistant coach was long overdue. Glad to see this positive change. Now, I hope the NCAA takes a serious look at more scholarship funding. 11.7 to build a 30-35 man roster is a huge disadvantage to private schools. https://t.co/4TQwQiYexo

Now only if the @NCAA would do something about the 11.7 scholarships in baseball and 4.5 scholarships in men’s volleyball. https://t.co/u7dVHtZUJo

All the while splitting 11.7 schollys which NCAA STILL HIDES BEHIND A NONREVENUE SPORT BS! https://t.co/d37XsKTjKg

Overdue. But good on the NCAA for doing this. Now, expand the number of scholarships in baseball beyond 11.7. https://t.co/e8Rg72nT01
