College World Series 2022: Ole Miss dominates Arkansas, improves to 2-0 in Omaha
The Ole Miss Rebels continue dominating opponents in the postseason, and Arkansas became the latest victim Monday night.
The Rebels dominated the red-hot Razorbacks 13-5 to improve to 2-0 and remain in the winner’s bracket in the College World Series. In fact, Ole Miss is the only team in Omaha to not have lost a postseason game yet.
Remember, Ole Miss was the last team to get in the postseason tournament by the selection committee, and it’s on a remarkable run.
Rebels freshman Hunter Elliott threw an absolute gem. The southpaw threw 6.1 innings, allowed just 1 earned run and walked 2 hitters. He threw a lot of strikes and was aggressive all night.
Ole Miss got the scoring party started early. With Mississippi leading 2-1, Tim Elko hit a towering 416-foot home run that probably just landed. Elko’s second inning bomb extended the Rebels lead to 4-1.
OH. MY. @TimElko‼️ 😱

Not to be outdone by Elko, 9-hole hitter Calvin Harris also hit a bomb in the 5th inning to extend Ole Miss’ lead to 8-3. Harris went 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs.

The bottom of the Ole Miss order got on base 8 times and scored 4 runs. Arkansas used 7 different pitchers, as it was saving arms for its remaining stay in Omaha.
For the Hogs, Jalen Battles and Braydon Webb each went 2-for-3. Peyton Stovall hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 9th.
Here come the Hogs!

Arkansas falls to the loser’s bracket at 1-1 and will face Auburn in an elimination game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Ole Miss will await the winner of Arkansas and Auburn, and the Rebels will have to lose 2 straight in order to not make it to the final series.
Not starting Hagen Smith tonight was a mistake. He’s been our best lefty all season.
Great game Ole Miss. Dominant start to finish. Never let us get going.
Respect to Razorbacks for never giving up. much rather face Auburn than y’all again!
Congrats, Ole Miss.
I’m trying to remember which Arky fan was telling me that Arky would destroy AU WHEN they beat Ole Miss.
Which little piggy was it?
Have you ever just made a positive statement….ever?
What do you care?
Every board has its troll(s). They are necessary to keep it lively even if they bring questionable value to the conversation.
Ron just wants to be THE alpha troll of this very small chat crowd.
I say, let him be all he can be!
Admiral Alpha Elite Troll is my official title.
I prefer Moronico.
If it was me, I was only half right.
Ole Miss punked us
But…we did destroy Aubie.
Hotty Toddy on a mission it would appear.
Tip of the cap to Ole Miss. Your team was clearly way better last night.
Be careful, though, lest you incur the SDS curse. SDS predicted the four winners of the first round game, and all four lost. They then suggested that Arkansas’ dominance of Stanford made them the tourney favorite. Then we get creamed last night.
So your prospects look good – at least, until SDS picks you to win the whole thing. Then, you’re in trouble.
This team is on fire!
If you didn’t see this coming, you don’t know Arkansas’ habit of following a huge win with a huge loss. Congrats to Ole Miss, big turn around from the regular season. Will be in the championship round, sneaky sneaky.
We just got spanked. Cap tip to Ole Miss. The Rebs are really rolling. 7-0 now in the NCAA tournament.
From James to the Hoddy Toddy nation: “To all my Hotty Toddy friends who are on the fence about going to Omaha… GO!!! Stop making excuses. I’ve been 4 times, seen my team lose and win there… but had a ball every time. It’s a 13 hour drive and tickets/hotel rooms are available when you get there. You don’t need a private plane or box seats… go take it in from any seat in the house. “I have kids” you say… TAKE THEM! “I have a job” you say… this is why you work so you can enjoy life. It’s one of the best atmospheres you’ll ever be in for happy people who are enjoying America’s pastime. Make Omaha into The Grove North just like MS State made it Dudy Noble North last year. Fan support made a difference in our run… now it is your turn to show the world how much University of Mississippi fans love their baseball team. Good luck and know that this Bulldog is cheeing for a Rebel Victory. If it can’t be us I am glad it’s you!!!”
Note: I saw someone post this and thought it would be appropriate here. I’m still pulling for the Hogs, but any SEC team has my rooting interest right now.
I cringed when i saw Ole Miss on our side of the bracket and they confirmed why yesterday. If we can get past Auburn, we’ll only have to beat Ole Miss twice…
It’s not fun trying work your way through your own division. Ole Miss is in the drivers seat now.
I’m still hopeful of a Hog miracle.
That said, consolation is the SEC winning it again so we can listen to the other conferences fans beotch.
