Todd Walker is aware that the SEC has won 3 straight and 4 of the last 5 College World Series. So during a segment on SEC Network, Walker listed 4 teams with the best chance to win this year’s CWS in Omaha.

Vanderbilt was the best team statistically in the SEC all season long, Walker said, and he pointed out that when the Commodores are on, they’re really good led by 3 left-handers starting games. RJ Schreck is the best hitter for Vanderbilt as he hits .335.

“But in order for Vanderbilt to make a run, Enrique Bradfield Jr. has to get hot,” Walker said. “He hasn’t done it yet, hitting around .290, but if Bradfield gets hot, Vanderbilt can make a run.”

LSU checks in at No. 3 according to Walker, but injuries have put more pressure on the bullpen to pick up the slack, and without a clear No. 3 starter, there are questions for the Tigers.

“If they do (step it up), the offense is good enough to get it done,” he said.

Florida is the No. 2 team with the best chance, Walker said, as the Gators boast some power arms as starters and a strong bullpen.

“The offense is really good for Florida,” Walker said, and added that Kevin O’Sullivan knows how to get it done.

Tennessee, though, has “all the parts” and has the best chance to win the national championship, Walker said.

“They’ve got 3 front-line starters, the bullpen’s very good and of course Chase Burns on the back end with the 100 mph fastball and the wipeout slider. They’ve hit 110 home runs, and they’ve just lit it up over the last month.”

One issue is playing on the road for the Vols as they’ve only won 2 of 13 games away from Knoxville.
