Former 5-star UNC big man Walker Kessler is perhaps the biggest name currently in the men’s basketball transfer portal.

The Georgia native would have likely had a featured role on the 2021-22 Tar Heel squad, but it seems his time in Chapel Hill is done.

Could he be on his way to the SEC? According to a report from Dan McDonald of Rivals, 3 SEC teams — Kentucky, Auburn and Tennessee — are among those in the mix for Kessler’s commitment:

Kessler has also heard from Gonzaga, Michigan and likely dozens of other schools.

Kessler was the No. 5 center in the class of 2020 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Georgia, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He appeared in 29 games for the Tar Heels this past season. He averaged 4.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.
