SEC play starts on Wednesday night, and we’ll hit the ground running with some great men’s hoops games that night.

As we prepare for the start of conference action, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi updated his bracketology projections.

As things stand now, Lunardi has 8 SEC teams making the field of 68 NCAA Tournament squads this year. Tennessee leads the way as a No. 3 seed:

  • Tennessee — No. 3 seed (South)
  • Kentucky — No. 4 seed (Midwest)
  • LSU — No. 4 seed (East)
  • Alabama — No. 5 seed (South)
  • Auburn — No. 5 seed (West)
  • Arkansas — No. 9 seed (Midwest)
  • Florida — No. 10 seed (Midwest)
  • Mississippi State — No. 11 seed (Midwest)

Lunardi has Mississippi State as one of the last 4 teams to make the field, playing in a first-round play-in game. Florida is one of the last 4 byes.

How will things change as conference play begins? We’re about to start separating the contenders from the pretenders.
